City of Prince George (the “City”) invites bids from qualified contractors who can demonstrate the appropriate experience, knowledge and availability needed for the replacement of all major equipment for the existing Elksentre ammonia refrigeration plant system that will include compressors, evaporative condenser, brine chiller, and ancillary equipment. The evaporative condenser will be replaced with a plate and frame condenser to be located within the mechanical room and a fluid cooler to be located outside of the east side of the building. The arena dehumidifier will also be replaced as part of this project. The new unit will be situated outside at the south end of the building. All structural components, framing and Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) openings are provided. In conjunction with the mechanical work, the electrical work for the facility’s power supply is to be upgraded from 460V to 600V as part of the relocation of the electrical equipment and distribution services from the existing mechanical room the Elksentre Arena to comply with the current Technical Safety BC (TSBC) regulations. BC Hydro design drawings will be referenced, and coordination will be required as part of this project. Shutdown of the Elksentre ammonia plant and programming will be in effect from April 15th and must be fully operational as of August 15, 2025. |
