The purpose of this Request for Proposal is to invite proposals from Insurance Brokers for the provision of services to the City of Prince George (the “City”) and related entities. 

Such services will encompass the full spectrum of property, casualty and private fleet insurance including risk management technical expertise. The Insurance Broker (“the Proponent” or “Broker” hereafter) will have a proven track record of providing comparable municipal insurance and risk management services and will have a demonstrated capacity for providing innovative service solutions and claims advocacy and will provide value for money.

A summary of existing insurances is included for ready reference In Annex 4.

The City of Prince George is a municipal corporation governed primarily by the Community Charter and the Local Government Act. It is located at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers with a population of approximately 100,000 residents.

For the year ending December 31, 2024 the total revenues were approximately $251,038,000 and total expenses were approximately $208,484,000. The audited financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2025 have not yet been released by the City.

The City provides basic municipal services including Police (RCMP) and a transit operation (both contracted out), a water and sewer operation, fire protective services and a Hot water district energy system (DES) for several City facilities as well as a public library and Tourism office.

The City reserves the right to place insurance directly with insurers at any time and does not guarantee annual premium volumes or broker commission levels.

This solicitation may lead to sequential or concurrent negotiations with one or more Proponents offering the most advantageous proposal(s), or to the creation of a Contract without negotiations.
